awesome robbo. i love how big & wide the smile on your face is. pure stoke. there’s nothing like making a surfboard from scratch with your own two hands, then getting out there & riding it.
yeah still riding it, well you know how it got fin-chopped the 2nd time I rode it? well I’ve ridden it once since then and that was at Noosa a few weeks ago! it primarily lives on the wall now and only comes out on very special occasions, I just couldn’t handle it being damaged again!!!
I am actually in the middle of buying a van and turning it into a campervan, a bit like your one but i’ll get it done by a conversion company, with fridge, sink, stove, beds etc!!! surfing road trip here I come!
please tell us about your time with Tom in Noosa .
cheers
ben
well Chipper,
I was only in Noosa for 2 days but I did manage to have one surf and I also managed to call in and see Tom (Wegener).
everyone sayd what a lovely guy he is and visiting him just reinforced it, he was very stoked about my HWS and gave me a little tour of his workshop and his operations there, I spent about an hour there and we had a good chat, I’m very glad I made the time to see him, and very grateful for his time and stoke.
yep I got his autograph! very daggy I know but I had to do it! we had a laugh about it anyway!
(it’s on OLDY’S movie “lines from a poem” which features Tom)
I also dropped in to the Legend Surf Museum at Coffs Harbour and caught up with Scott Dillon, he is a very friendly guy and very chatty, he told us some great stories of the old days, he was pretty stoked with my board too but picked it to pieces! But hey it was nice to have some feedback and constructive criticism from him!
Scott and I with my HWS at his museum.
had to get a pic of me on the fibreglass wave at Scotts museum!!!
