Rocker for a 9'6 waimea gun??

Im shaping myself a 9’6 waimea gun and I dont normally shape boards like this. What rocker dimensions do you reckon would be right for it? Its 9’6 x 191/2 x 3"

Unless your real light, and a strong paddler, or only plan on trying “small” Waimea - From what I’ve read, I’d say the board sounds on the small side.

You could look at a clark catalog for some numbers.

I’m sure 6" nose 3" tail in in the ball park, +/- an inch or so, but, as per some good recent threads, the amount of lift given at any one point really doesn’t paint a picture.

I’m really not going to surf anything bigger than 12-15 foot Waimea, Im 168 pounds, and quite a strong paddler. I ride a 6’1 x 18 1/2 x 2 1/8 shortboard and a 5’7 x 19 1/8 x 2 5/16 dumpster diver, and a 7’0 x 18 1/2 x 2/18 semi gun.

Any other opinions on dimensions for a waimea gun?

Jonnyshaper,

Waimea, isn't really Waimea until twenty feet.     The smaller, inside waves, near the rocks, are not even a shadow of the outside waves.    As to dim's, try

5  inch nose rocker, and 2 1/2 inch bottom tail rocker.    Those rockers have been ridden, with success,  up to 25 foot Waimea, and 30 foot Makaha, on

boards that were paddled into the waves.
