Rocker for Wombat-type board

I’m about to shape a 6’4" Bear Wombat-type board. I’m not sure how flat a rocker I should use. I was thinking of using the rocker measurements from the back of the clark 6-9A or the front end of the Clark 7-4 becker blank. Any ideas or suggestions?

these are the rocker points on the first bear wombat.

nose 3 1/8

6" 2"

12" 1 1/8

Tail 1 4/8

6" 1 1/8

12" 7/8

box at 4" from tail

added are pics for authenticity

Jonah,

Off-topic, but where are you surfing? Grand Isle area? Fourchon? I’m from Baton Rouge origionally and I’d love to bring a board back next time I visit.

thx

7/10

What type of fin are you using with that wombat? Also what size is it? Are the side fins side-bites or regular fins? Could you also post the measurements for the location of the side fins? Sorry to pepper you with more questions, but I’m about to do the fins on mine, and would like some guidance. Thanks.

they are side bites gs’s fcs the back of the fin is level with the top of the box (10" box) and box is 4" from tail

I’d go for the 6’9’’ a rocker template, the wombat has a very low level entry rocker - it’s almost flat. I’ve had a go on one, they’re awesome down the line…

Good luck and happy shaping

wish i could get pics to come out like that!!! :o)

If you wanted to make a 7’ wombat/egg, could you increase the nose rocker a bit to say 4’‘, to stop it being too flat???. Im thinking of a 7’ egg, and i think a 7’ board with only 3 1/8 nose rocker might pearl easily.

Pauluk,

Thanks for the fin information. Could you describe the rails on that wombat? Are they soft, 60/40, 50/50, do they have a sharper edge towards the tail? I was thinking of doing funboard-type rails, but then I thought maybe because the wombat is a shorter board it might need harder rails. I’m not sure. Any details are appreciated.
