The lock nut in front of the lever can be loosened to allow easier adjustment. You can lube the two sliding plates to help but not so much it gets on the material. A dry lube would be best.
ps. Doesn't the motor on the left side hang below the footplate? This is the predesessor of the 126 model.
Dang, If the motor does hand below the foot plate that would be about useless. I hope it doesn’t. Haven’t bought it yet, wanted to get your guys’ opinions first.
Houdini, it probably has the motor hanging down, be sure to verify. Try looking at the Makita or a Hitatchi that can be re-worked (fairly easy) on: www.reconditionedtools.com. They still come with a one year warranty. Good Luck.
Well thanks guys, now that I’ve looked at some pictures on the Net it does look like the motor hangs down. Oh well, knew it had to be too good to be true. Maybe I’llpick it up andyway to use trueing up my rails on blanks. I’ll keep looking for a better planer, just have to stick with my Makita for now. It works ok, I modified the handle to give it a 30 degree angle but haven’t found a way to give it a short throw depth adjustment yet…
