Rough-shaped wood tail blocks...

Quick question: Are there any rough-shaped wood tail blocks out there? I currently have not installed one on a longboard yet, but thought that this would be a great idea. Why should a shaper have to start from a sharp edged, rectangular chunk of wood? Think of the time saved. Anyone know if this product exists, and where to get it?

Why should a shaper have to start from a sharp edged, rectangular chunk of wood? Grant , please go back to the drawing board with this question. If you would like to pay $40.00 / hour , I’ll rough shape you as many as you would like.

OK…I’m a Bozo. Just don’t call me Krusty the Clown. “The drawing board”? Are you refering to cutting out a tail block shape from a piece of wood; and/or pre-shaping the tail block before installing it, or what? I’ve seen many sharp edged tail blocks for sale at places like FoamEZ. Obviously one size doesn’t fit all. But I still think it would be a good idea for some rough-shaped (close tolerance) tail blocks to be available in various lengths and widths.

are we getting a bit lazy? we already have close tolerence blanks. Just shape the thing. Or better yet, make one yourself.

There are just too many thickness and width tails to to accomodate such a product. I sell them by the foot, with extra thickness so they will fit even the jumbo-est of tails. Cut off the tail, match up the tail bock material, draw a line around it and pre trim off the excess. That’s the best you can do.

Thanks for the straight reply Jim. I just had to voice my crazy “wild hair” idea…like a bozo.

Hey Grant, you don’t hear voices do you?
