I just thought I might draw a few smaller fish templates inside larger ones–
I’m going to be making a few, from low 6’s to mid 5’s–I couldn’t get that many more, but I thought I’d save some masonite–since all you need is the outline and a few inches of the stringer at each end to line it up (anyone ever do this with different sizes of the same shape?)
and it occurs to me you could cut separate tail curve temps for fish, out of offcuts–keep a planshape and just try a different tail
just a thought I thought I’d post for feedback
That sounds like it would work. Are you saying you would line it up on the blank as normal, then just push the template over the stringer an inch or so, so that the length shortens?? If so, you would also lose some width that maybe you wanted to keep. What i would do, is maybe just mark your middle point on the template line for given lengths, then draw your outline to center then adjust the template moving it forward a bit to lengthen, or pull back a bit to shorten. You could still take some width off by moving the edge over the stringer as well, maybe not so much.
I think I’ll do it --I’ll take pictures if I do
I guess the danger is that you end up with a skinny piece of masonite that’s more likely to break
