Does anyone know much about these new Rusty single fin boards? Seems like they’re in
fashion… Well of course the pro’s rip on them… but should everyone really add
one into their quiver?
There’s a website in Indo giving away a one that was custom made for Jay Davies. The contest is open worldwide but you or a friend has to collect the board in Bali. (HERE IS THE LINK)
and my last night mare... well, the buggs were eating the trees so fast that the trees were falling down and the rip current was so bad that San O was a big fat Log Jam of Fallen trees and sand and no one cared.....and I almost died when that big fat Tree crashed down....and ........I woke up....There's no Trees at SanO.....and no rip....and no one that rides a long board with a single fin cares about busting air......wooooo....
It's a tough life....time for a surf..........Stingray.........
this model is called the Rusty ‘Bali Single’… I think its a shape developed in Australia. Read the specs HERE

The Bali Single…BS…has a relaxed rocker a lot like our ‘84 Occy model
…not like an old school single fin. The deck is semi flat with full
angular mid rails so they don’t feel too boxy. The bottom has a very
light single in the mid section with vee through the fins and off the
tail. The spine of the vee is above the rail but it has a slight concave
out towards the rail creating a little hook in the wings and this gives
a light roll to the peak of the vee and helps to give it a smoother
rail to rail transition and a sweeeet ride…Enjoy.
Solosurfer posts single fin stuff on Swaylocks all the time....some really nice boards...
A young man from San Clemente has posted some really great stuff....look for Polfer Hull Designs...or PHD....
I don't buy into the "BS".....I just ride boards that I make.....and I like single fins......mostly boards longer than you ride...

I had a Channel Islands one about 5 years ago, 5’9’’ x 19’’ x 2 1/2’‘, the cut backs and carves it did were incredible, awesome board, really good in barreling waves too but that 7’’ kidney ripper fin freaks me out. How did people not injure themselves in times gone by?
You must be fairly young? Leashes and traction were invented well before the thruster became popular. The leash pre-dates the thruster by ten years. Deck pads by at least five. The first widely accepted traction was Herbie Fletcher’s Astrodek, which appeared mid 70s.
A few years ago I was asked to make a design for Ice 9’s “AB3”… Anything but three". They were going to send them back east for a summer of demo fun.
**It was a last second deal they told me about and I had this ready for them to pick up the next day… never really heard much adter that, and I dn’t know where the board is now. Hope people enjoyed it.
