If you’ve read this far… and you’ve faced your problem… and you’re ready to pry yourself from your computer long enough to seek help, I believe I may have a solution. Who? The usual gang of hopelessly dysfunctional irregulars. What? The First Annual Swayloholics Anonymous Meeting. Where? Plaskett Creek (Big Sur, CA) Group Camp(s) #2 & 3. Why? Why Not? When? September 5th, 6th, 7th. Bring some toys - bikes, kites, kayaks, fishing poles, boards, even inflatable air mats if that’s your thing. It’s a beautiful area that occasionally gets decent surf. My long range forecast is calling for 4-6’ glassy conditions. For those who can’t seem to help themselves, a set of racks, calipers, contour gauges, roll of wrapping paper and pens will be provided for board analysis. I’m hoping some of you will see fit to help get some decent gear together - a few sheets of sandpaper, rolls of masking tape, bars of wax, leashes, fin(s), cans of resin, a few yards of cloth or whatever (I don’t think Skip Frye will donate one of his boards) to have a raffle. Just bring something, we’ll throw it in the pile and draw tickets ($1.00 a pop - that’s right only a dollar!) to see who gets what. I’m in the process of contacting a few local shops and supply houses for donations. All proceeds will go directly to Mike Paler who runs this site. I don’t want to soil the good name of Swaylock’s by implying that this is an officially sanctioned “Swaylock’s” event. It isn’t. Anything goes wrong and it’s egg on my face, not Mike’s. Space is limited… the sites combined supposedly hold up to 80 people but I’ll be calling a limit way before that - we don’t want another Woodstock. A $10.00 deposit will hold a spot. Individual campsites are 18.00 per night but they are strictly first come first served. Click the link below and check “Plaskett Creek” and “Sand Dollar Beach” for an idea of where it is and what it looks like. Contact me at if you are interested. I am open to questions, comments and suggestions. http://www.parksman.com/BSM.html
John, God Bless You, I’'ve trying for months to quit, my willpower has failed me. We need a steering group to write the steps and traditiions, and let’s not forget our long suffering partners and families, Sway-Alon and Sway-A-Teen. We can all have spiritual awakenings and strart surfing more. One Day At A Time
Count me in…I might just finish sanding the Edge by then.
“… let’s not forget our long suffering partners and families…” What about mans neglected and suffering best friends from the animal kingdom? "Please don
t wait, join Sway-A-Pet’ners now, before it`s too late." One Day At A Time!

Mike, Though I’m on the east coast, I just might try to make this gathering of this unique tribe. But, bottom line, where can I send a check? If you posted an address I would gladly, and would encourage all people visiting this site on a regular basis to follow suit, send a donation. We all get enough from everyone here, whether we ask or answer, that this is a very important tool in all of our toolboxes. Post the address and the check will be in the mail - or e-mail me and I’ll send it. Thanks for being here - Pedro
hit the “keep swaylock’s alive” button at the bottom of the page – everything you need will be there. Thanks, S

sounds good to me!!!I dig that area…
I probably cannot make it. But, if Paul or any other Northwesterners can swing by Portland, I’d be happy to donate a keg of beer from our microbrewery for the event. email Cheers, Gary
that’s it … we’re moving the party to Portland.
thanks Gary. Muy generoso!!!
Howzit John, sounds like great fun to me but due to prior commitments I’ll be in Vegas at the time with family. Aloha, Kokua
Sounds like a great excuse to head down there. It’s beautiful place. Now if I can figure out how to get all my crap(surfboards, camping stuff, wife.oops!) in my van I’ll be there.
That’s too bad. I know you have some killer glassing tips.
