S.A. Raffle open to everyone (even if you can't make it)

It’s been suggested that we open the raffle to everybody. If you can’t make the event and you want to buy some tickets, read on… Ticket holders will have to make their own arrangements for picking up winnings (bear in mind that boxing and shipping {especially a blank} might involve some extra expense on your part.) Send donations/raffle ticket purchases to: W. Lee Vanderhurst c/o Geotechnics Incorporated, 9245 Activity Road, Suite 103 San Diego, California 92126. Ticket purchases good till September 2, 2003. Please enclose your e-mail address so that we can inform you if you won.

Sounds cool! How much are tickets?

Hey Man, What address do I send a gift certificate for a custom set of Halcyon fins to? Who do I make the check out to for raffle tickets? That’s a stupid question, kook! Swaylocks, of course. No Worries, Rich

Cash preferred…money order or checks made out to Lee Vanderhurst…(if they bounce, I’ll post your name!). I will verify receipt of your $ by e-mail. Good Luck!!!

A buck seem too low…I think $5… http://www.hollowsurfboards.com

$1.00 I’m in many, many times over. $5.00 I’m not in.

It might be time to hype a little bit on the raffle items. I’ve been hearing about things surfacing from all corners. From tee shirts to fins, blanks, tools etc. It is quite logical for people all over the world to donate money to SWAYLOCKS and have something cool shipped to you. Who wouldn’t want a Greenough paddle fin? I for one will donate a pair of balsa wood glass on asymmetrical keel fins. Tons of items will be raffled off. So if your any distance far away from California, send your $ now. All these guys volunteering their time are honest people who will take the time to notify winners of their prizes. Leave your names and contact information with the raffle money. It’s a great way to help Mike offset the countless hours of his labor of love. Maybe we could start an on-line list of items to get a bigger draw from the vast pool contributors. Contact John Mellor – he’s close to the venue, on the central coast. This event will surely propel interested folks on peripheral things such as SWAYLOCKS tee shirt designs. I have participated in a slew of surf event raffles, and it’s a great way to help out and win really cool items. Time is running close.

Paul, John and I thought about this for about two seconds…What’s more; 50 dimes or 5 dollar bills? I think it’ll work out the same in the end. I look forward to meeting you. How may boards can you bring down? Lee

Is there a list of official items yet? John has informed me of the possibility of some REALLY COOL things. I just don’t want to ass-u-me anything. This event is sounding seriously fun! I told John M this, but I’ll say it again here: Can you imaging the look on the Big Sur locals faces when a gang of freaks riding assorted weird surfcraft invade their peak? It’ll be like the pool scene in Caddyshack! I think it would be worth it to come to the event based on that possibility alone. Anyway, I’m super stoked how this thing is coming together and to have the chance to meet some of the great folks here. Thanks for all the hard work so far John. Thanks to all for ideas and contributions! According to my source, T-Shirts are in the works and will be available at the event. If any are left over, we’ll offer 'em here. 5.00 per ticket seems fair but we already have it in gear at 1.00 so maybe next time?

Have some items in hand and quite a few commitments for other cool stuff that either hasn’t arrived yet or will be brought to event by fellow Swayloholics. There is another thread around here somewhere (see “Swayloholics’s Anonymous Raffle”) describing items so far, followed by pledges from several of you. I’ll try to keep it updated as it develops. Newbalonie’s very generous donation of a new Hitachi planer (with Herb Spitzer custom grips) may be the grand prize.

One idea could be two categories. Merchandise and higher ticket items like custom made tools, power tools, wood surfboards etc. $1.00 - $5.00

Good idea but just opening up to mail order complicates things. Lee will be writing names on tickets and we will be packing and shipping the goods to the winners who aren’t there. I can imagine poor Lee with a 5.00 bill in hand… “Was this for five of the regular tickets or one of the high end tickets??? And which envelope was it in?!” The list of items is growing and we are not expecting a huge crowd. I can guarantee that anybody’s chance of winning at least something is much better than LOTTO. Take a chance - bring (or send) a dollar!

I take it back… Dale’s custom surf mat will probably be the grand prize!

For those interested I’ve got some items gathered or commitments from Yater, Steve “Magic Man” Brom, Wayne Rich, Clyde Beatty Jr., and J.A. Jim Allen of UpCounrty surfboards. Lee V. will pick up the stuff on his way up the coast, if we don’t car jack him for the raffle money.

I’ll bring 3 hollows… http://www.hollowsurfboards.com

Correction… Herb’s informed me that Lee’s planer is the newer version and not as adaptable to his grips. It may get raffled without the Herb grips - either way, it’s a great prize.

Howzit E-pac man, You guys are going to have a good time at this shindig, wish I could make it but I’ve already booked with boards thru the end of Oct. Once people found out that P.S. lost his priority in my shop I’ve been getting so many calls to glass their boards. I think we could use a couple more experienced glassers over here. Aloha, Kokua

Buy some raffle tickets and I’ll bring over any prizes.
