S-core

I finally got to see one of those S-core boards up close. French guy was sitting on the beach at Laniakea with it. Looked nice felt pretty light with a kinda cool light blue color. From talking to the guy he told me he worked/shaped for Solomon. Couldnt get too much technical info from him since he had a rather thick French accent. Best i could get was when i asked him to compare it with a traditional PU board. He said it something like it surfed much different and had a much quicker response. Anyone have any experience with the S-core blanks? I have gone to the website and it says thier available in Australia, KR or any other Aussie shapers out there try it yet? Seems like a really good idea.

I saw some today in the HIC Ala Moana shop, shaped by Eric Arakawa. All very thin, all very light, and all very $795. I picked one up, and I’d be worried it might buckle in the wind carrying it to my car. Why aren’t all the top pros riding them? All that being said, if they are strong enough, they may be the future esp if they come down to the $600 range.

WOW! For $795 those boards better live up to the hype!

I have tried a blank similar to the S-Core. It didn’t feel right underneath my feet. Frontside it was extremely awkward. But on the back hand it was amazing. I got rid of the board after a few sessions because it just wasn’t working for me. The person who I gave it to though loves it! The S-Core’s are really exspensive. From the person who made mine you are looking at like $550 for the price on the rack which is mega $$$$$$$$$.

im guessing the cost of the S-Core blank alone must be around 150-200 bucks…NOT cheap. Id pay it though IF real performance gains are there.

Kelly Slater on an S Core.

S-core is just the beginning of a whole new “interior structure” blank. More than one company is working on it.
