Sacred Craft Spring 2010

Sorry - I have a lot more pics, but I don't have the energy to post them right now, nor to narrate.  Been up since 3 am, on the road by 4, all day at the show, high on caffeine and stoke, then hit the surf afterwards a bit, then 2 1/2 drive back to bako, download photos, upload photos, I'm out of gas!

Hopefully some others will post too - there is an awful lot I missed photo-wise.  But I do have plenty more which I will post later.

Go Sunday if you get a chance!

BTW, TrueAmes fins, thanks, the 6.5" bonzer fin works great, had it out in some small stuff after the show, turns great!

Here are some boards from Sacred Craft Ventura 2010

7’4" Bladerunner; 23" wide, 2 3/4" thick

8’0" Baby VeloSimmons Twin Fin

8’6" Spoon and 7’10" G-Wave

9’8" VeloSimmons, Steve, 7’10" G-Wave

6’0" 5 fin inspired by a desire to surf a hull backside, Geoff McCoy, Malcolm Campbell, and Ford GT40

5’8" See above but replace Ford GT40 with California Poppy.

good lord, what on earth (or uranus, neptune, or saturn) is this ?! " )

dunno, didn't stick around for the interview

Tuck's (poster here on Swaylock's) son took a related model out for a spin, maybe he'll have some insights

The show was really fun, one of the most enjoyable yet with a lot of beautiful stuff there. Really loved the Ancell-ed Yaters, and Danny Hess & Daniel Thomson had booths with some incredible boards. It was busy enough I really didn’t get to look closely at everything I wanted to look closely at, but I suppose that’s why you do these shows. Well pleased that the Ekstrom asymmetrical we had won ‘best in show’, but a little disappointed Bassy didn’t have a tearful Tomo (last year’s winner) present a tearful Carl with a sash or flowers or something, a la Miss Universe. Ah well, getting to hang with Reno Abellira more than made up for that. Met lots of nice folks, saw a few Swaylocks/internet buddies. Good weekend all round.

“Stretch” himself lammed a board in our Entropy Booth!  Check the pic.  We saw a number of Sway folks at the show.  Thanks for visiting us.

Hey - one of 'em was me!  You guys rock, always a good experience when I buy from you.  The show was sensory overload for me, so I missed a lot.  Looking forward to the videos, 'tho!  BTW, what was the winning ticket #?  (Mine is 237406)

Great show, lots of really cool things to see and do for the type of folk that geek out about surfboards.  We did a little write up about our thoughts and highlighs in our blog.  But here are the pics of some of the cool things that we enjoyed watching.

In regards to those funky boards with the camo patterns and fins attached to the boards.  They were done by a shaper named Rick Rock who is based out of San Clemente.  The first one was the green & black one which was sort of an experiment, the design keeps evolving and apparently the purple one rides pretty well.  The fins are shaped out of scrap foam and attached to the shape then the whole thing is glassed.  Rick wasn’t there this time, but the glasser, Greg “Webby” Webber was showing them off under the umbrella of United By Insanity.

From talking to the blond guy in that one pic, who’s name is Matt, he said they handle somewhere between an alaia and a thruster.  He said you have to draw out your lines, but its possible to get somewhat vertical.  They do spin though.  I would be interested to hear opinions of the guys that rode them in the morning though.  (especially whoever it was that put a few dings in them on the rocks)

Hey Rog,

This frightful pic gives me nightmares!

It’s time for a kinder and gentler photo of the Sage de Hulls

Hey man, in all fairness, they were sending 'em out leashless.  Whaddya think's gonna end up happening?

Great Expo.

From the Antique Roadshow to the Surf Art Pavilion, it was all good.

Listening to Steve Pandarvis telling me about tail flex in his Pendoflex boards was amazing.

Too much over stimulation and my head exploded at 6PM.

KP appraised my Liddle shirt, '80s wetsuits, and SFVSC Surf Team nylon jersey to have a value of $0.00.

Thanks Kirk

Can you please elaborate on these last two?

That 8’ simmons twin is exceptional.
