Hey all. My buddy just picked up a Sam Egan handshape for $120 (Can.) the other day. I don’t know if Sam frequents this site at all, but AJ wouldn’t mind knowing the history of that board. It’s a 7’4" thruster with glass on fins, and a wicked gloss job. Needs a bit of repair work(deck dings, rail ding) It was shaped for “Max.” just a shot in the dark here, but maybe some of you in Oz know him or he’s reading this now… thanks
Sam Egan is a respected shaper in Australia. He is from Newcastle !00 miles north of Sydney. He is Luke Egan’s (pro surfer) father. Shapes great looking longboards.As well as short boards. Been in it since the 60’s. platty.
Sam shapes out of Peter Sheely’s factory in Maitland Rd Islington. He’s a semi-god in Japan and makes fantastic boards both long and short. I had a 7’4" Indo gun from him that went like a rocket. I’ve also got an old 7’ wing swallow with a timber fin and dark red tint that he did in the 70’s that I’m meaning to restore.
I doubt very much that he uses this site.

Sam Egan is Lukes Dad. he lives in Newy(newcastle) and has a shop there called Egan Surfboards. My first board was a sam egan. He still shapes some of Lukes Big Boards. and shapes really good big guy shortboards. Sams a great shaper who makes quality boards.
I highly reccomend him.
