They just evacuated a 100 square mile area from the 56 to lake hodges and from basically the 5 to the 15. The 15 is closed from around the 78 going south down to SD. Reports say that people are trapped in their homes, and houses are burning. At this time one of the fires is directly behind moonlight glassing, and the owner got two van loads and moonkitty the shop cat outta there. We can’t get in for more boards. Keep your fingers crossed folks…
Hope all the San Diegonians are okay today
If anyone needs a place to stash their stuff, we have some room in Pt. Loma. If you need a place to stay I have room for a few folks - could put up our giant tent in the backyard too.
Just let me know.
JP has some pics posted on SurfySurfy of the fire. http://surfysurfy.blogspot.com/. We will keep them in our prayers.

Well…heading home 'cause if things change I might not be able to get in to get out, if you know what I mean…I’ll give you a call…Good luck to all you No. Countyites. Looks nasty up there. Over and out.
Ironically, I just surfed the best oceanside I’ve seen in at least a year. Way overhead and flawless peaks. They’re talking about possibly evacuating solana beach at some point. That’s 3 miles give or take south of me. I got ashes all over everything and all the windows closed. Whole place is smoked out. I’m gonna start collecting the goodies and split north I think…
I wish you all the best.
Take care of the ones you love.
We’re sending good vibes and onshore winds from this side of the globe.
Howzit Jim, Read this morning about possible 90 MPH wind gusts in the valleys in SD area and that’s going to make for fast moving fires if it’s true. Pack what you can and be ready to get the heck out of there.Aloha,Kokua
Visibility is dropping by the minute…
Just saw it on the news, looks radical and frightening. Safe passage to all those who may be in harms way today.

My company is in the direct line of fire (pun intended, good size Biotech company)…The whole area is under “Mandatory Evacuation” right now. Glad I grabbed a full backup of the network this morning and took it home…Hope Moonlight survives…Good luck to all in the path…
Smokey sunset over Mission Bay this evening.
There were 500 houses burned down in San Diego just today alone. 1/4 million people evacuated to safety. High winds are supposed to last until Wednesday pm (still only Monday now). It’s pretty bad here. I live on Point Loma, surrounded by water on 3 sides, so am feeling pretty safe - but still, we have evacuees all up and down the street visiting from other parts of town - they pulled in today in trucks & cars, pulling trailers full of stuff. Last time this happened in 2004, the wind died and we got lucky. We need the same now.
We’ve got surf, pray for calm air!!!
Just arrived to find my house still here. So far it seems the coast around encinitas/carlsbad/cardiff has been spared. Not over yet though. Thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost homes or have been displaced. This is nothing short of a catastrophe…
Yesterday morning, as San Diego burned…the La Jolla Reefs were firing. Overhead high, off shore, no one out, and unhealthy air. Drove around San Diego County (south of all the stuff burning) like Mad Max…no one on the road. Surfed from 8:30 to 12:00. sureal…
Sorry for anyone that was in the line of the fire, and thank you for those that were paralized to the television watching other pain. Thanks for staying out of the water, and making one of the most impossible surf sessions possible…Now I know what it must have been like to surf back in the early 60’s
North County sunset last night:
Very smoky this morning, but at least the winds aren’t up (here) yet. I hope this gives the firefighters a head start on this thing.
North County sunset last night:
I think there is a guy that posts here that is from Stevenson Ranch near Valencia. They got burned out pretty hard last night. I saw The Proneman Sunday morning on the early surf check. I guess he got out of Malibu earlier than the fire. 80mph winds at Leo Carrillo State Beach yesterday.
roy stewart you are a dick for saying something like that.peace be with you
