I’m in San Diego for a few days. Can someone recommend a good surf shop where I can droll over some eye candy board porn and fondle some bonzers, pavels, mandalas, or local hand shapes I wouldn’t normally get to see on the right coast.

Maybe a trip by West Coast Glassing at see if they’ve got any resin magic happening…
Best of all would be a trip up to San Clemente to Icons of Surf (and then maybe to Laguna to hit up Thalia).
Mmmm Icons of Surf. Good call. Maybe I’ll hit that on my way to Trestles. Thought about Moonlight, but Surfy Surfy says they’re only open Saturdays 9 - 1 and I’ll hopefully be in the water then. Thanks!
Icons of surf is definitely worth a stop - hundreds of insane boards, but that would be post-Trestles, as it’s a little north of there. I wouldn’t bother with Thalia (small inventory), unless you’re already planning on checking out Laguna Beach. I highly recommend a walk through Laguna. Even with all the wealth that has infested that town, it still retains it’s quirky artist colony feel, and there is nowhere else like it in the U.S.

I would suggest Mitch’s in Solana Beach or La Jolla. Both have a great selection of Pavels, Christensons, and many others.
I second that…Mitch’s in La Jolla is a great place to dig around at.
PB has a shitton of longboard shops around Crystal Pier/Law St. area if you’re looking for quantity.
All I can add is if you make it to up to Mitch’s in Solana Beach also go to the The Longboard Grotto in Encinitas,

they usually have quite a few boards on consignment from locals.
and really just keep your eyes open as you go up hwy 101: from Solana beach to Encinitas you’ll see plenty.
