I just moved to San Pedro from the East Coast and was curious about all the spots i see here in san pedro. Seen some long and good waves at Royal Palms park and have been meaning to get out, theres a bunch of reefs around there, i took a bunch of pics of some good waves, i’ll post them. I saw some guys hanging out down there after surfin and was gonna cruise down. I havent been surfing for very long but im doin alot better on my new NSP, they are the best boards. Im really getting into this whole stand-up paddling thing too. Super fun.
Anyways, does anybody here surf around san pedro or any of these spots? Are there any good beginner spots?
Hahahahaha, you should probably post this on the SurferMag BB. They love these. For the record, when I was a grom I pulled up to some spot overlooking the beach in San Pedro. Within a few seconds (no joke), an Impala lowrider pulled up behind us and its occupants basically said to “bail or die.” I’ve never been back so I guess it worked…
that place was going off, i just had to get to work. Only a few guys out and long waves
i just looked at it and it was pretty fun looking. Looked at some place by Cabrillo too that looked okay. I need to find out how to postr these pics for everyone

nsp_surfer,
I hear the locals in San Pedro are not to pleasant to surf with. Don’t think pictures are a good idea.
One line that has worked for me when I go to surf Cabrillo Point during a steep 175 degree South swell is " I’m looking for Marineland of the Pacific. Is it around here?" The place has been closed since the 70’s, but the line works. The locals never seem to notice the weathered Liddle on my car. When they do, most of them think that I’m from the East Coast!
Jim, don’t give away Saf’s secret PV Cove surfing spot!
Stay away from Royal Palms. It is a very protected, localized, gangster type of spot. Much heavier then Lunada or Hollywood BTS. Even prior generation locals have problems going out there. A good friend who has lived in the same house overlooking Palms for 40 years has problems when he goes to check it out!

Yeah, the wave at Palms really isn’t that great and the locals aren’t at all friendly. Watch your car if you decide to check it out anyway. Also, Cabrillo gets really polluted. Go to the Cove, people are much friendly. Torrance beach has been fun this year also.
