Im sitting on the beach in howling onshore winds dreaming its gonna swing offshore when I look at the sand dunes. One is about 20 foot high. The wind is ripping up the sand dune and has created a slow curve to the top of the dune, a perfect 4 foot deep double concave is carved in with a one foot ridge created in the middle. The curve of the concave goes to the top of the dune and the wind has creATed perfwct bait tail like release points. Wish I could have got it on film, watching the sand rip up the concaves and exit over the top via the release points. It got me dreaming. I rushed home, got my wife and showed her, rang huei. Yup im tragic I know. But it was awesome to see and has inspired me to try something in the future. Has anyone been inspired by nature in their shaping and created something they normally would not have
nature is the primary inspiration
all inspiration comes from nature
we cannot be separated as we are
indeed and thought part and whole
OF NATURE.the illusion is that we
abstractly conclude that we can separate
our selves. The Flash back to the evidence
that we are connected can be a shocking
Epiphany, Welcome back, go and do good
works. you have been anointed ,
sitting on the beach.

Surfboards shaped like seed pods, fins inspired by dolphins or whales - nature is the teacher and we are the students. Good post - now where exactly are you going with this?
How many dreamed of and attempted to fly until the Wright brothers succeeded? As Ambrose said, “nature is the primary inspiration.”
IMHO, Surfing and surfboards are unique to nature. Dolphins swim under the waves, pelicans glide above them, and an occasional seal slides on one to the shore. We are then left to take attributes of nature and apply them to our pursuit.
Fish, birds, rivers, and plants, to name a few, have been studied and applied to surfboards by those before. So what is the point and significance of my ramblings? I’m not entirely sure but, do know the human factor should not be ignored or underestimated. What other creature on this planet flies to space for scientific research?
I was just stunned at the perfe,t curved concaves and the way the sand was blown up the dunes and exiting out the release points. I live a nomadic lifestyle so I dont get the chance to play in a bay, but im thinking of using aku shaper pro and creating a step up bonzer type board with the concaves I saw in the dunes. You never know one day I might get to shape it and see if it works
