I’ve been sanding with a regular orbital sander so far, and it does take me a while to get nice flat finish after the hot coat, i am thinking of getting a proper sanding pad + machine but i can only get 1 pad for now, should i go for the medium or the hard one?
i want to fit it even in the double concaves of the bottom so maybe even a 6” instead of the big 8?
You also have shaper.fr at Seignosse, they sell pads and right speed angle sander/polisher. Seabase Hissegor have good pads too.
Right angle sander/polisher adjustement range speed is around 1000/3000 rpm, adjustment range speed of standard angle grinder is more or less 3000/12000 rpm
For sure you want a Sander/Polisher with speed adjustment. Right angle grinders are just to high of RPM. Sanding pads that are made for fiberglass work are threaded to fit a sander/polisher. They will not fit a right angle grinder. A Soft or medium will get a hot coat sanded. Sand rails, concave and channels by hand until you master the sander. You can ususally buy pads in 8” or 6”. Don’t know the metric conversion. Check out Shapers Australia. Their website will give you a good idea of what’s available, even if you don’t buy from them. I use a soft and medium to sand a hotcoat. I grind my fin boxes with a Die Grinder and a 3” 3M Roloc disk
