…I see your point but again there s not such thing like bad batch of SA; the problem that you relate is more in the way of what Phebus is saying; it s an external factor even with the same batch.
I had many problems with that when I started to glass in the mid 80s then I figured out the problems.
If you wanna think that the problem is a bad batch, it s ok with me; may be you do not see it again if you only glass boards from time to time, but I live from this so the % of how many boards can sport this problem is high and in the past, the problem was always with external factors like Phebus says.
I dont want to argue with you Reverb because I do respect you highly because you know alot about surfboard building, far more than me.
But how can you ignore a controlled test done on 2 scraps of foam at the same time with the same resin, same atmospheric conditions and same % of wax in styrene and catalyst. The only difference being the batch of Wax in styrene. With the test yielding the same results as what I found with my boards.
If extenal factors include how the wax in styrene was handled and bottled by the business that sold it to me then I would agree with you, otherwise I dont.
So we obviously respectfully have a difference of opinion, I’d never had that problem before, but before I had never used that supplier either.
The only reason why im holding strong on this in this thread is because I believe that the consideration of the SA could help someone in future even though its obviously a rare problem.

…ok; but what s % of paraffin did you put in the styrene? I mean, that s one of the external factors; in this case you bought the SA so that % was just there…
I understand those test but let me tell ya that I had a hot coat then flipped the board put the other hot coat…tacky everywhere…only an hour later, all the other the same.
So still I think that not the right % of paraffin or too much % of SA in the resin.
