DQ’d myself before as in jumping the gate.
How is this?
To quote a very dear soul here in.
“I used to be a pro”
Now I polish my boards with 40 grit.
If you like, I’ll enter
if not I’ll just return to the depths of the ERB.

you’re in!
As one bottom feeder or said to the other…
“Stella”!
EDIT
How stupid of me that line was from a different film!
On the waterfont vs. A streetcar named desire.
I like this better!
Aloha Nui Loa
Gezz!
Guys!
Yeah, I know a lot, I’m a frickin’ Olphart!
Knot a no it all.
Anyway
I’d like to think it is the lack of creativeness that marks me as an outlander.
Fine as…
My rap has always been “does not play well with others”
Going to make this ride anyway.
Still the “Greg Liddle” from long ago and happier days @ 3rd.
Details
US Blanks 7-4 SP +1/2" T @18" RED 4MM ply
Made 1st with natural rocker darn flat.
And as Ray said “I like tail rocker”
So do I.
So I adds a little.
Still doesn’t look like what I want, yeah?
On the horn ordering another my way.
Saturday, I cut the glue lines and really had a chance to really study the blank.
The +1/2" SP blank had mucho foam for more tail rocker.
It is Monday and clock is ticking if I want the new blank by Thursday, yeah?
So, I figure why knot rough this puppy in.
Ya know what?
I came close to what I want.
Backed my template up.
And got decent entry, flow and exit.
I’m gonna hold off on the next blank this one gets wet.
A lot more going on with this one and might just prove interesting to someone.
I hope.
EH! Someone, other than Huck say yeah.
Or at least blow it off fool.
Aloha
EDIT
Oh BTW,
The hick up on the left glueline is a “CHOKE” on my part.
As I was
Defying the given here
I don’t have a band saw
Simple bowing of the knees or old eyes!
Keep the stoke my friends…
Nice start.
Keep it coming Mattwho, your gluelines look way nicer then mine, so I know you aren’t going to take my spot for trainwreck!
No rules, more contenders.
Even with Mama clampin’ down
on the time I spend in my shop.
Here’s the poop
I’m not gonna explain what I’ve done
as it is very clear.
Anyone out there?
Old Timers look close
as I needed a trick from da bag.
Aloha and keep the stoke!
Nice stuff gramps… From another grampa. Keep up the stoke.
Sa-weeet
All the best
Come on with it.
No one caught the “Cat” step deck?
Or at least asked what the hell I was doing with my quad set up.
Finishing this puppy.
Pray for surf.
next post
a summary of what’s gone into
my “Contender”
side note on the progression of the puppy
as to tail rocker.
#1 (top) Gate jumper
#2 (mid) Contender
#3 (bottom) EERB “clone”
Lotz of Aloha & Stoke
Woohoo! Looks good amigo.
Howzit Matt? Looks great! From the photos, it was hard for me to tell if there was much vee in the tail. Maybe it was the shot. Nice laminates too. Did you use inner tubes for the glue line clamps?
I can remember some days surfing with,
and then just watching G.L., Bowler, and Dirt at the Kiddie bowl. They made it look fast. There was a day here awhile a go at Stables head and a half watching Mr. Kennedy and Shaun Tompson trading waves on an ULTRA consistent swell.
I learned everything by simply watching those characters.
Nice job.
What not to do too…sometimes.
To my brothers.
A huge mahalo.
Huck, love ya!
How 'bout the free hand “Posca pen” pin lines?
Thought it would give a funk to it.
Ha! As I was late on da tape on the blue gray resin pin line.
Amigo Tblank!
No vee here.
Flat entry to single concave.
with unusual quad set up.
1st ride report windy Zuma this AM
“Boy” reports handles chop well, paddles and catches waves great.
Turns ( with quad) “nice Popz” (boy is thruster fan).
Hoping to get stills and or go pro shots soon.
Aloha and thanks for checkin’ in
Matt that looks killer. Nice job on the pin lines. Would love to hear a ride report.
All the best
Really nice board. No errors or Bugs in her:)
Especially like that your “test rider” reported it was good in chop. I am always surfing wind blown places, and am trying to learn what makes a board that handles chop well, yet still moves.
Tell us more about them quads.
If anyone is interested…
The Contender weighs in at
US 7-4 SP RED w/ +1/4@18 T
7-0" x 221/2"
Nose to tail
19x221/2x143/4
And the quad set up
Budweiser!
As in 2 many.
HOWEVER
Mistakes can be productive.
After realizing my foo PHA I just rationalized
Being I have been seeking a quicker transition from rail to rail
Eh what the heck.
(Really messed this up)
Fronts @ 16 1/2" 3/16" toe 7 degrees cant
Rears @ 8 1/2" 1/4" toe 4 degrees cant.
So’s I figure
And told “Boy”
Big fins back small fins front.
Did he listen?
Hell NO!
However results are promising…
Very nice, Matt!!! I wish everyone would put up a video ride report of their creations.
all the best
Yew!!!
