Scaling template- Loehr Method

OK...

Im happy to punch the figures on a pdf of a 5'5" Lis Fish and scale it up to 5'10" by using Greg Loehr's method of adding 1/8" for every additional inch in length.

The pdf also gives other dimensions such as;

  • rocker
  • thickness along stringer
  • buttcrack dimensions relative to stringer line

My query is;

Do I need to scale these up as well? The thread that I saw that mentioned Greg's method, only suggested adding 1/8" to overall WIDTH of the original template measurements. It didn't mention anything about adjusting rocker, thickness, tail dimensions?

Would be great to hear any thoughts...Greg are you out there!!

Cheers

I scale the outline as you stated.  On rocker and thickness I usually just use a straight scale.

hey greg

Thanks very much for your reply!!

Sorry to be a pest...when you say you use a straight scale for things like rocker and thickness, what are you referrring to here??

My thoughts were to adapt my own rocker and thickness to the upscaled 5'10" version...trying to keep it in line with the original...I guess this is where the art comes into it!!

If you could give me an idea of what you a referrring to as when you say 'straight scale' for rocker and thickness that would be much appreciated!!

Cheers

Straight multiplication.  6 foot board has 5 inches of nose rocker.  9 foot board of the same type design has 7.5 inches.  The same is for all measurements except the outline.
