How do you guys scale up templates. For example if you have a 6’4" full size template how do you scale it to 6’8" and make it look like a longer version of the original template?
Your always going to need to add a bit of width to keep the curve in it. I have a 10 foot full size template that I use to blow up boards to 12 foot. The trick is to draw the middle first, center the temp, the add the nose and tail. This keeps the outline from cramping ahead of the wide points. Now on a board with only a few inches added this won’t be a problem. Don’t get locked in on exact dimensions, be flexible on all the widths
I use 1/8 inch of width for each inch of length, plus or minus. This was based on a scale that puts a 9’x 22.5" at the top of the scale and a 6’x 18" at the bottom and mathmatically fill in the rest of the scale.
