Scanning an outline into APS3000

I have a picture of an existing board i’m focusing my 2nd shaping attempt to try and replicate. i created a template in APS3000 but it looks a tad off. i want to try and scan the outline [not the rocker] of the board so my template will hopefully come out more precise and also for learning how to do it for the future.

so, i’m sure i could figure it out but i’ve already run into a road block. I go to ‘File’ ‘Image Board’ and then select the picture (.jpg), but then the pic doesn’t show up on the APS screen. i tried starting a new board beforehand and seeing if it would lay on top of it, but that didn’t work either.

any tips? suggestions? am i doing anything wrong?

also, should the picture be cropped down to a certain size?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

choose OUTLINE for an outline picture

on SHOW/HIDE “Show Image Board” is checked

If not these, post again

still won’t show even though ‘Show image board’ is shown.

i went to the ‘help’ page and did what it said to also but still no image.

thanks for your help so far…

You definitely have to start/open a board first. It won’t open an image otherwise.

Unless the image is not saved as a good .jpg or there’s something wrong with the file, the stuff I said before should work to open it, as long as you have a board open, the outline option working, and show image board checked

.

could be the jpg is too big for the software/RAM to deal with

reduce the number of Kb (MS Office Document Imaging does this pretty easily through the pic edit/change size)

hi JDM,

did send you a little manual, hope it helps.

you may try to change the picture into another format (like gif for example) or you make a screenshot of the outline or profile of the board. this reduces the file size and enables you to choose a different file format.

you find an excellent free screenshot program at:

Ckeck the text box in the lower right corner near the measurements. There might be an error message there when you try to load the image

thank you so much miki and everyone else.

[i really appreciate it. thanks for taking the time to make the manual. we’ll see if it works!]
