went pretty smooth until I tried to blow out some sanding dust in the vent with a compressor and created a 6in diameter delam around the vent. Feel pretty stupid. Not sure if I should fix it with some pu glue or leave it. It is not bubbled but it definitely is not adhered to the foam. Any suggestions are appreciated.
board looks great; wanna make an extra one for me? What density is the foam on that board…? You could likely get away without fixing it, unless your skin is bubbling up trhere and you don’t wanna contend with the unsightly bump.
Super easy fix to your dilemma. Fill a syringe with pre-mixed epoxy and fit the syringe with a very long needle or very thin tube. Insert through the vent after removing the plug with a tight bend so that the end of the needle/tube goes in the space created by the delam, inbetween the skin and the core. Apply some pressure to the syringe and move the end of the needle around such that the epoxy gets distributed over the foam. Remove the needle from the vent hole and hook your vacuum up to the hole. Pull a LIGHT vacuum; 5" Hg is easily enough. It’ll suck the skin right back down and you’ll get good adhesion. I’ve repaired what was about a 2 sq ft delam in the MIDDLE of my board (I mean halfway through the thickness; two sheets of eps that didn’t stay stuck) using this method and only had two tiny holes left to colourmatch afterwards. Board is good as new and you can’t even tell that the repair has been done.
