whats up guys, why am i seeing the weave of the clothe after i hot coat them, not exposed just visible under hot coat. im seeing to much of my lap line on my decks more so than the bottom( bottom first then top)? Also can i just chop up old clothe to make my own fcs thickning powder they gave me, it seemed likr that was all it was in the cup. On the lap line thing im not taping off just cutting laps really clean, sanding them down just a little unsure about how much to sand. thanks alot guys kokua and cleanlines thanks alot

Howzit Trevor, as for the weave showing it’s hard to tell without actually seeing the problem. FCS supplies the milled fiber with the fin production kits and unless you can cut your glass in 1/32" lengths I would just use what is supplied or get it from a materials supplier. FCS’s fibers are whiter than what you can buy else where but that’s really not a big thing. Sand your laps down as flat as possible to the level of the foam. If you leave an edge on the glass it will cause a bead of only resin around the deck when you do the deck layup. this becomes a weak area in your lamination and that’s not what you want. Hope I’ve made this clear enough. Aloha, Kokua
