I go back and forth with my friends everyday on this. Do we > make this for the surfer to send the shaper? And keep it basic? Or do we > make it a total design tool…and just shudder when the kooks send > shapers something really crazy. Steve, Just my thought: Already you have a site that I think will be intimidating (technically) for anyone who’s only interested in playing around. In other words, some punky grom may go on there, play around for an hour–or until his attention span withers, then never visit again. I think the only people who would actually use it to send their designs to a shaper are people who have enough grasp of reality and the basics of shaping that they would only try things that would not waste the shaper’s time–and their own money. By just the look/feel you’ve got going, I think those who will stick with it are going to be serious about using it as a tool. You’ve already weeded out the kooks–at least those with limited resources…deeb out…
I want S.I. Heavy Duty!! With full on 3d rendering and airbrush tools. Let me know when youre here and I’ll give you a tour of my humble shaping area.
Where are you located? I have been looking for somethiong like this to help my shapes. If I saw correctly, you are in Maryland? I’m down in Richmond,VA and am always looking to expand my knowledge on shaping. I just drew out a winter stick last night (6’8", 10.5 x 19 x 13)using a 6’11"R. I hope to start shaping today. I have a digital web cam where I can take pictures as I go. But of course I’m logging in all my steps and measurements. Its early today, so I need to get going. I will be spending more time to review the program later today and during the week. Travis
Hey Travis, Ocean City, Maryland…I have a 15 second walk to be able to see over the dunes for a surf check. All the Swaylock bunch are invited for pizza and a place to park if any are in my area. I’m totally stoked on my recent feedback and am already trying to beat down the “graphics programing walls” to extend the Surfboards Interactive capabilities to a more 3D geometry. But please do check out the tools and see if they help to scale out the differnt parts of the shape. If you trace out a shape you will find that the “Virtual Calipher” measuring tool can give you some good intermediate width distances.>>> Where are you located?
