Session # 2 Surfer Divas - Sponsored by Cerritos College

Sunday May 7th was the second session for the Surfer Divas. Since we had a lot of competition with the Fish Fry…I think we did pretty well.

First of all, I would again thank Molly Logan, who shapes for Muse Surfboards, for once again giving up her Sunday to help teach the girls (and adults) how to shape.

Brad from Foam-EZ also donated much of the needed shaping tools and equipment. Foam-EZ has consistently supported the various forums and workshops held at Cerritos. Thanks Again to Foam-EZ!!!

A special thanks also to Terry Price as the Department Head for making this possible, as well as the other volunteers Mike, Jerry, Rick, as well as some of the parents.

I have photos to post, but seem to be having some difficulties with that issue at the moment…

Check Back Later…

Good stuff mate, I’d hate to see the fights at the end as to who gets to use the board the most…

I have 3 daughters see, I know these things…

I’ll get them into it when they can handle the tools and I get a script for Valium…

again great to see…

They can shape better than i can :?

Cheater…

Great site!!! I love the karts!! I raced them for a while…in my younger days!

The girls are doing a great job as well! I have learned from the whole process, and I would encourage anyone that is passionate about board building come lend a hand…unless the girls intimidate your ego! Just kidding…

The way we have been trying to address the project is by doing as much mentoring as possible. At first we were going to have the shapers do the work with the machine tools, but quickly found out the girls were able to safely work with all the tools as well. We just give direction, guidance and a lending hand when needed. The girls do all the rest!

Thanks!!!

Ken

hey,

Thanks. im glad you like the pictures. Im really digging that rail band shot at the top. Very professional.

Looks like the boards turned out amazingly good. Keep up the good work.

Chris

Hicksy…

Our children are boys, and so working with these young ladies has been quite fun. I have been impressed on the level of quality they are able to achieve. They attend classes at their local school and participate in a class that utilizes equipment such as laser cutters and CNC machines! I need to enroll in their class!

I’m sure you will be great imparting your skills on you girls, and if you make it through that, you can make it through anything!!!

Thanks!!!

Ken

All…

Cerritos College is setting up the Summer class schedule, and if you are interested, the fiberglass class will make available all the material needed to do a surfboard project, at the wholesale cost to the students. Here is your chance to build you board for under $ 100 and meet some great people as well.

Check out www.mfgskills.com or call Terry Price for more details.

The process is taking a bit longer than we had planned, but the effort is well worth it!!!
