Shapers in Bali

Does anyone know where to get a 7’ 4" blank on Bali. I also need everything else to make a board in some hotel room or on the beach or in the fucking jungle if I have to. I have had one guy offer to let me use his shop and sell me a blank but at a ridiculous price. Even the blank price he quoted was out of control. Makes me start to lose faith in shapers. Can anyone help?

Ive been up in the Mentawais surfing this shitty thruster, and came down here to try to make a board. Riding a shitty board isnt bearable after making boards that work and that I like.

But Dale I got some good rides on my mat in some serious surf before I got put on the dry rock at the end of the wave I wont name. Out of the water for a week after that one.

I just recently fixed a board a guy from around here picked up in Bali, apparently he bought a 9’4 there for about AUS$500.

Think it was called REDZ, from what I remember the shaper was an American guy.

Don’t quote me on it but I think he was working out of Legian somewhere.

Hope that helps.

mate, shipping a pu blank to bali takes some serious bribery. let alone thats the guys living to make boards there. go to denpasar and buy some eps foam, or build a hollow wooden, or buy a s/h board and just go surf.

get ready you just may be next on the grill

Great line. something to think about.

how mature someone is spiritually doesnt neccessarily depend upon how old they are in human years.

something for you to think about.

Years ago,(early 80’s), an aussie set up shop in bali making boards but had so much hassle from the authorities he had to hit it on the head. Since then ,to my Knowledge, no one has tried again. Heaps of ding repair shops about though, check out Poppies Gang 1 & 2 in Kuta, where you will also find 100’s of boards for sale. If I were you I’d save your self the headache and buy yourself a board, there’s bound to be something you like down there.

Thinking about it, it seems incredible that loads of boards are’nt made in Bali ,maybe someone is knocking some out but I was there a few months ago and there was no evidence of it. I had no problems selling my boards to one of the shops at Poppies, demand from tourists and locals is high. I came across loads of folk in the large expat community who are gagging for good guns, one chap reckoned he got through 3 or 4 a year. Bali would be a super place for R&D, I can think of few places where it would be nicer to make boards for a living. I suppose the main obstacle is the incredibly corrupt government that anyone in business there has to deal with.

hey sorry all if my post was a bit caustic, me and easternpacific seemed to have misunderstood each other, but all is well and we reached a peaceful understanding, which is always a good feeling. on another note hey thomas get a job you bum!
