Hey, Redthorn here. kinda new to these forums, just got a new computer and fast internet, so i’m good to go now eh. i was wondering which of you shapers were in the pacific northwest, especially canada. (Vancouver? the Island?, Northern Washington?) i want to check out a proper shop some time. i got my own welfare setup in the shop, but i want to check out others. i’m mostly shaping longskates right now, because up here they sell easier than surfboards. also does anyone up here ever want to share shipping from clarks? preferably in Feb/march. and i’m looking for a few more suppliers of urethane block foam. does anyone know ggod ones up here. preferably Canada so that i don’t need to pay all the duty etc at the border. anyways, ride 'em oldschool, and may God bless you all and Merry Christmas.
Talk about being it hard to find blanks in Canada, I’m in Montreal, Quebec. Maybe EPS foam would be a solution. That’s what I do anyways. You can find it quite easily, but more difficult to shape since you start from scratch and have to use epoxy which is more expensive.
“Red”: I am in Nanoose, just north of Nanaimo. But, my setup is a double wide garage primarily oriented towards woodworking and decreasing in size to my wife’s gardening interests. If I were you I would check out Paul’s site or Addiction Surfboards in Sooke - if you don’t mind the costs of the ferry. Good luck. Patrick
I work out of a two car garage…Great lighting, big work table, stationary table saw, lots of cabinets full of power tools and drawers full of hand tools, WALL HEATER (OH YEAH)…TV-VCR-Stereo, and plenty of other goodies… http://www.hollowsurfboards.com
