I went into my local shaper's, bay the other day, and the floor seemed spongy and soft like a tempur pedic matress. anyone know what this is? do you have it in you bay too. It seems like this would be easy on the feet to stand on for hours on end. Also, many tools and blanks would be safe if they accidentally droped.
Howzit tjrm, I can remember having a cement floor and at the end of a long day my back and feet would hurt, bought some rubber anti-fatigue mats and neve ached again but they aren't cheap for the good ones. Aloha,Kokua
I have 2 layers of carpet on my floor, I spend all day standing, need as much cushion as possible, feet punish the knees and the knees punish the back, gotta kept all the parts happy cuz’ I love my job
home depot sell work space cushion stuff , if you want to spend.
Jims ideas are , well, you know, genious!!!
Harbor Freight sells the fatigue mats for your work space and they interlock. I bought mine there and they were 8 bucks for a set of six I believe and I think they are each 3' x 3' square, you'll probally use 3 packs and you can cut them to fit corners. I've had them for years and they work great .
Tom
,
I recently put an anti-fatigue mat next to my work bench for a HWS build. It made a big difference in feet and lower back. I have problems with both areas. I got one of the nicer mats from a company called Rockler. I also have some of the interlocking foam mats from Home Depot( my kids use it in the play room). The HD mats would definitely help and they are fairly easy to cut and would take the shape of any work space. They are also easy to sweep or vaccum on.
I've used all of the above including the carpeted rubber mats that are used at entrances to businesses. But the ones I like the most are the rubber mats that are used in commercial kitchens. The ones with the holes in them. You don't have to shake or vacum them when you clean out your bay. Just roll 'em up and sweep out your bay.
Howzit McDing, Those are the best there is as far as I am concerned and are easy to clean. Aloha,Kokua
