shaping in concaves

Hey my name is griffin and Im on board 17 or 18 and im still a little bit hazy on how to shape in a good single to double concave on a 7’0 semigun. If someone could give me a little advice that would be great.

thanks

There’s a pretty good thread from a while back on concaves. I posted an entry or two that has some general ideas about where I think they should go, how they should flow into each other, and why I think they work. I’ll try to put a link to it here:

(hope it works)

In terms of how to shape them in, everybody’s got their own method. I’ll lightly sketch out ovals, and go at it with a surform first to rough them out. Then I’ll blend and smooth them with a coars sanding pad and light touch. I’ll finish them with a finer grit pad and polish them with foam and screen when I do the whole bottom.

Hey , thanks alot for the link you post really helped out alot.
