shaping nose concave

what is the best method for shaping a well defined nose concave, like a teardrop shape with a nice edge??? thanks

if you want it deep, start with a small curved surform, then go to sandpaper. if you’re worried about sandpaper taking off too much edge, tape around your concave with masking tape…that way, when you’re sanding, if you happen to go over the line, it’s on the tape. tape really isn’t necessary if you’re careful, but it can serve as a nice set of training wheels.

I always plane out the excess foam and stringer from the area I want to be concaved, whether it be blended or dish type. On the dish concaves, mark lightly with a soft pencil and tape just outside the line and sand away after planing, The tape is very resistant to erosion from the sandpaper, if some of the pencil line still is there, you can re-tape to the inside of the line and clean up from there
