Shaping Screens

Does anybody know the best way to keep the screen from sliding off the foam rubber backing?  Do you glue it?

Thanks, Tripper

What??? More info.

I don't know anyone that glues it. You have to find the right combo of foam and screen; some foam ''grabs'' better, and some screen ''sticks'' better.

old mattress pad sticks really well to shaping screens. no adhesives needed. the pressure of your hand on the screen and foam is enought to make the two stay together. dale velzy used to nail carpet to the bottom of his wooden shaping blocks to give a little cushion between the block and screen. (i learned that at Surfing Heritage Foundation)  But i tried that and it works better with sand paper and when i taped the sandpaper to the carpet on the bottom of the block.

just experiment with things that naturally stick to the screen. i think the majority of people use old mattress pads. but all my sanding blocks are made out of something different. carpet, foam, sleeping pads, towels, etc... the list goes on and on and on

Just use a block of EPS. You can cut it to any size and even shape it for concaves. Make sure the screen is big enough to wrap around on itself and it will grab.
