Hi guys,
I have recently decided to buy a beginers shaping kit and I’ve gone for a 6’2 fish blank. However I was wondering if anyone has any good templates available? Or anything else that could help a first timer? Im a casual surfer and decided I need a down time hobby and thought this could be a good idea! Would be greatly appreciated if someone could help as its very hard to find any knowledge down here in New Zealand, cheers!
thanks heaps man, a donation will be given generously

I gtg right now, but if you have any questions pm me, or post and someone should offer tips. Don’t be too nervous, a fish board are somewhat simple -til you get to cutting out the tail…have fun! Get a fish blank !
Making your own templates isn’t too hard to do. Some people use software to do it. I used a flexible metal yard stick, finishing nails, masonite, and I drew up my dimensions, and used a flexible yard stick to bend inside the nails to draw the design. They used to use flexible wooden batons, but anything flexible would work.May be someone will chime in? I’ve heard some folk’s draw them free hand, and true it up with sanding block after cutting it out w jigsaw.
I used the flexy yard stick, a jigsaw to cut it out 1/8" or so outside the line, and trued it up w surform and sanding block.if you want easy -people use the designs at that site. I like orig stuff bcuz I’m an Artist who also paints w acrylics.
