Shark Repellent?

A guy at work brought up today that he had seen an old Cousteau show where the old man sent a couple guys into a shark frenzy, wearing wetsuits painted to look like sea snakes. Supposedly, the sharks got the hell away from the “sea snakes” ergo this pattern confers shark repellent qualities? Heck for all I know it could work. Comment? I also remember from small kid time a presentation by some well regarded local scientist types on some work they’d been doing on Eniwetok or similar, to the effect that human sweat has strong shark repellent qualities, but pee doesn’t. Again, comment?

At 21 feet long, the color of one`s food might be a distant second to “chomp and swallow”…

The guy looks really pleased with himself and no doubt he probably feels more secure and very macho while posing beside this endangered animal!

Sharks usually attack from underneath… all they can see is an silhouette. Painting designs, colors, or creatures on your person probably isn’t going to do anything…

Howzit Rook, About 10 years ago surfers over here decided that those green/yellow painted bottoms resembled turtle colors just a little too much. Nobody orders those any more over here. Aloha, Kokua
