Good morning fellow Swayloholics. Received this E-Mail this AM. Reference to a spot a little north of Morro Bay, CA. Just when I thought it was safe to go in the water. Subject: Re: Git yer gun out…! But not for the reason you thought. Heard about the multiple CONFIRMED G. White sitings at and around Abalones recently? Some grisley shit. Severed seal head and upper torsos floating thru the lineup…still bleeding! Shark coming up with a seal in it’s mouth in front of a family walking the bluff by the gift shop. A few more too…ULTIMATE Crowd control Kirk

Surfed a spot a little north of Abalones in June. Very rugged, wide open, with an audience of sea lions. Kinda made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up now and then!
I think I know the spot. Ironically, Fish and Wildlife says they haven’t seen Great Whites around and they’ve been looking up around Piedras Blancas Lighthouse where a growing population of elephant seals hangs out. I guess just because F+W hasn’t seen any doesn’t mean they aren’t out there!

Just think of it as crowd control…Abalones and a South=too many > people. as long as one’s not part of the ‘crowd’ that gets ‘controlled’
as long as one’s not part of the ‘crowd’ that gets ‘controlled’ You don’t have to swim faster than the shark…just faster than your friends…

John: That stretch of coast always did give me the spooks-more so than the desolate coast south of morro bay.Back in the early 80’s a great white kept the crowds down at the pier for a few days…It’s flat down here!
