Sharpie markers

If you are looking for a great way to do graphics on hotcoated boards, I have found that Sharpie markers are incredible for this application. You can even get them in a rainbow assortmnt of colors. They are permamnent, great color, Gloss does not afffect them, the’re cheap, easy and a you can even use them to pinline with Drew

Drew, I did an experiment with a black Sharpie. When I applied resin over it, it ran all over the place. Are you using a special version? Doug

Your best bet is to purchase some of those Posca pens (the ones used for creating the graphics on the “Lost” surfboards) to do your artwork. They are definitely not as inexpensive as Sharpies, but you can use them directly on the blank to create your graphics and since they are water-based, they should not run when glassed over. However, by pressing too hard, people have a tendency to crease the surface of the blank. Therefore, you are better off using them on the finished sanded board and spraying your creation with clear coat finish. You can find them at Foam E-Z (see link below). http://www.foamez.com/cf/catalog.cfm?cat=3&subCat=28
