Now that my MC Bonzer is finally ready, I need to get it shipped from the nice people at Moonligth glassing to Europe. Received a quote from DHL, they are suposed to be the cheapest of the bigboys, but it might be cheaper to catch a flight over the atlantic if the quote I received is correct. Do you know any other companies I could use…
If you can’t find a cheap shipping company, making the trip yourself might not be a bad idea. you could test it out over here in the states. make a surf trip out of it.
Thanks for the tips guys, a surf trip to Cali would be great but I can’t get enough time off from work, a week is not enough time for a surftrip. Guess I just have to bite the bullet and pay up…
Gave the nice folks over at Pilotairfreigth a call like you suggested bagman, and received a quote that was dirt cheap compared to the ridiculous amounts that DHL was charging. So problem solved, thanks again for the info!
i had my 7 boards quiver shipped from san diego to france last april. Go to surfride at solana beach or oceanside. They will tell you how to do it. The best thing is: all boards arrived safe and dingfree at home.
Thanks for the tip chacal 69 but think I’m going with pilotair. Sent the people at Moonligth Glassing some preshaped nose and tailblocks, some tubeinsulation foam(rails) and some extra protection for the keels(3-fin bonzer).
Hopefully this extra packing combined with the clarkfoam carton and boardbag I purchased will get the board overhear in one piece, at least it’s worked so far with my other board on surftrips.
Pilot Air freight to Australia for a 6’ x 22" x 8" is $225. Not cheap. How much was Pilot Air to Europe??
Was not implying that shippng a board from the states to OZ or Europe was cheap, but that pilot air was cheaper than DHL. The only thing thats cheap around here is russian vodka!
