I bought a 1.5hp 5 gal shop vac($25!! named it R2D2)…is this gonna be enough for the vac attachment for the Hatachi planer? Or do I need one with more power? Thanks!

Your R2 unit will work just fine. Only problems are not more than one or two boards between dumping. but you can line the tank with cheep garbage bags for quick changes. Also I am interested in how you support your vac hose. That seems to be a problem sometimes (Twists & binding etc.) Good luck
I was thinking about putting a hook above the rack, hang a string, and tie something strechy like a big rubberband to that to suspend the hose from it. I am just getting things ready buying little bit of gear at a time. When I am ready I will beg Herb to show me whats up [smile]
