I have a 2 + 1 board that’s 6’7" x 17 x 21 3/4 x 15. The center box is 4.5" up and the small (about 3.5") side bites are up 15.5" The fin that came with the board is 7.5" The center fin seems a little big for this size board with side bites, but I really don’t have much experience with this type of set up, and it seems to be a kind of unusual set up; most 2 + 1’s seem to be longboards, and most multi-fin shorter boards seem to be thrusters . I’m wondering if anyone has any experience or advice on what size center fins are usually used on a board like mine. I’m thinking of going down to a 6.5", or maybe a 7" for the center fin. Or, does anyone have any thoughts on increasing the side bite sizes and using maybe a 5" center fin, so it’s like a thruster. Thanks in advace.
Hey T.O. A 6.5" center and 4.0 rails would be a good place to start. There are many fins on the market that size and many 6’7" board configurations as well. Email me if you want to talk particulars. Mahalo, Rich
Thanks Halcyon.
Ive been riding a 7 in center and two Merrick FCS fins up front on my 7 foot egg and have no complaints. I had the Merricks laying around and didnt want to shell out for another set of fins so I stuck em in. It looked like a whole lot of fin but for some reason it works. I have been contemplating trying out other combinations like using a smaller rear fin, smaller front fins and saw an interesting fin, a Future double sided foiled fin that fits in the FCS plugs. Have heard some good things about them.
