short longboard?

Hi DanB

What sizes are you thinking of?

Looks like an interesting design.

Soul

PS hey Chipper, did you already make something like this?

I was thinking of making a 7 footer for myself and a 6’2" (scaled down) version for my 8 year old son. I would set his up with removable sidebites so he could ride it as a thruster until he learned not to ride it too close to the shore at Doheine (those rocks would play havoc with a big single fin). I just made a aps3000 file of what I was thinking (I didn’t bother playing with the rail shape since I wouldn’t cut it on the machine). I didn’t mention it in my previous post but this is based on the Stepchild board)

this is a nice looking board coque.

have you ridden one before?

how is the control from the nose?

-jar

well that’s 2 of you with the same links…

thanks neira.

so have you ridden one yourself?

what do you think it weighs?

eventually my board bag is going to get heavy enough to warrent an extra charge from the airlines.

i like this shape.

-jar

hey balsa,

this is a beautiful board.

it looks a lot like the stepchild outline…

do you have any more dims?

what’s the bottom shape like?

-jar

now that’s a chunk of glass.

wouldn’t it be a blast to test drive one of these?

i’m guessing the bottom is pretty old school w/o much v, tail rocker, or concave…

does anyone know?

thanks again neira.

Hi Jar, that board isn’t mine, i wish it was, but someone posted photos about it years back here on Swaylocks when Magicman was still a regular and when you described what you were searching for i just thought about the “Stepchild”, searched the photos and posted them.

Also it’s always an honor to show some work from Mr Steve Brom, the guy is a great shaper, a great person and a pleasure to deal with. I have a fish from him that i love, but haven’t put enought time on it. Today i had my second and last surgery from an injury and i think my first session is going to be on the Brom in a couple weeks.

Coque.

PS: Also make a search for the Con Ugly, the idea i close to Brom’s Stepchild.

this looks like an amazing ride soulstice.

looks like this guy rips!

so, do you think some sort of winged fin/star fin might hold the tail down enough to ride the nose a little better?

-jar

those are great looking boards soulnpower.

quite the experiment to be made with all those fin plugs.

i would enjoy even more reviews of how it handles from the nose…

-jar

thanks for the outline DanB…

i’m starting to see simularities in outlines here.

i’m loving this!

let us know how they ride when you get them done.

-jar

sorry to hear about the injury coque.

hope you get out there and feeling better soon.

i’m going to look a lot closer to the Broms soon.

thanks again,

-jar

more pics!

more dims!

more reviews!

(and much appreciation!)

The shortest noserider:

6’-6’4"Compact disc

They say you can even nose ride on it.

I personally have never pulled it off on anything less than a 7’2" mini log.

Ian

you can noseride anything. you need a log to hang ten and for glide and trim, but as far as a cheater 5 goes, it can be done on anything, even modern over rockered high performance shortboards. i used to have a 6’3 that i would noseride once in a while. just didnt seem like there was much of a point.

Where is Boonville, Ca ?

Mine is a Walden rip off. I call it the Short and Fat. Very fun board. I think we used a 7’3" B from Clark foam.

The board in my avatar is a 6’11" EPS foam. That one is my own template. It has never been riden. Only 2" thick. Check out the resources/photo archives.

Maybe I will sell you one…

benny

dimensions look very exciting ,what would be the smallest lenght for those and would up rails in front and /or back be of any help[i am thinking along the con ugly princible ].I know you said no tinkering but sometimes you just cant help it.

cheers

Check out surfysurfy.blogspot.com, look for the 5-fin “Thumb”-kind of a longboard planshape to a sharp, angled pintail, about 5’10" or so I think. Has images of it being noseridden by Rob Machado, it looks like a really interesting board!

hi etmo

how do you open the video of machado riding the thumb?any more info on the board?

cheers
