shortboard downsizing

first time shaper ,downsizing from 6'5"18".25 x2.25  to a 6'3".....?board .Do'nt know how wide &thick to keep the floatation the same?             please help !

k, a 6’3"x18 1/3"x 2 3/8" will have very similar volume.

You have a ruler with thirds of an inch?

ride a 6'3 of similar dims and you'll know ....

I'd go slighly wider thru-out the whole planshape and you may want to tweak the rocker too, especially tail.....

yea, I do.

thanx guys, this helps ...but I wish ya'd learn how to use the metric system..It's  heaps easier to work in millie metres [mm] .......I'm an Aussie.   " I hope ya all get some sick barrels "

well 1 m=39.37in, so a MM=.03937in. if you ask me those are way to small of increments to deal with. When you get a board in Australia what are the dimensions on the stringer written in?

inches unless you make it yourself.

Maintain your rail profile if it's working for you. When you increase rail volume you can lose senitivity. However I don't know what your needs are other than floatation. Anyway I put a few options for you.

The middle colum is what I would lean toward however I don't know how tuned in to your surfing you are? If you go with the right colum tune in your rails to keep them responsive. Careful when you add thickness to a board concerning rail volume. Try and hide the added volume to the center under the chest and maintain your rail profile. That is if you are that in tune to your equipment?
