How would a modern shortboard with slightly knifier rails on the upper 2/3’s of the board ride? Any thoughts or shared experiences are appreciated. Thanks, Graham
Hard rails can be fun but they take some getting use to. They gave you more precision on a wave face (imagine carving a block of cheese with your finger vs. a surgeon’s scalple, an over simplified example, but then again I am a simpleton). However, they are very unforgiving. They tend to dig or bury the rail if you weight them uncorrectly, especially during a roundhouse/cutback. On the other end of the spectrum, fuller boxy rails are less sensitive but are more forgiving.

Thanks, Graham This was discussed under the heading of Razor rails. I’ve pulled the link from the archives for you: http://www.swaylocks.com/discussion/archive/index.cgi?read=9856 If it doesn’t work archive search for Razor. Magoo
