What’s the shortest board you’ve ever (successfully) ridden in the largest surf? Paddle-in only, please.
doesn’t count because it wasn’t me, but I SAW Titus Kinimaka on a 6’ single fin in 18’ faces at Hanalei. Surfing amazingly well.
look back at the cheyne horan thread with pix of him riding waimea on a 5’6" single fin (it was 5’6", wasn’t it?)…yeah…totally blew my mind.
yeah and at a reef I surf when its on theres guys who charge into 8ft waves on fishes…
Josh.
Its winkipop!
My friend took a 5’4" quad to the Mentawais. Worked unreal. Met Lopez down there and he was tripping out; he got on the board. Well overhead Thunders, Lopez was on a short one as well, 6’6" considering the wave size…
The same friend rode a 4’10", albiet square-nosed, in the largest winter waves in our local area this season.
It was about 12ft faces at our local reef I was young dum and poor. I only had a 6ft rounded pin. It was a bitch getting into them and after the take off I had to get rid of some of my speed else the board would spin out or bounce around too much. I only weighed about 65kg aswell. The biggest thing of all was my step brother paddled out aswell and he couldnt even surf that well yet.
