Wanted to share my first try at resin tint and second time pinlines on a 6’5" I made for my good friend John. Thanks to all who have contributed and given freely. Don’t be afraid to mix the colors! Still lots to learn! Mahalo, Hans

Ken, Didn’t intentionally mean to “hijack” your topic. When I posted, first time ever, I thought I had to put in the topic to get it in line with the others. Please accept my appology. Best regards Happy New Year, Hans NB

Happy New Year bro
this is a 6’x22"x3" maroon tinted fish.
first real fish that I have done. I wanted to do glass ins, but the customer wanted plugs - up to them I guess. I’m pretty happy with it, just wish that I could get my polishes and pin lining a bit better - but I’m slowly getting there. forgot to take a pic of the deck, but it’s just the same colours as the bottom really.
nice tint. I saw that maroon color last time I was in my supply shop. Looks pretty sick. Try using slightly wider tape, so that your pinlines are constantly curved, and don't look like you "connected the dots" between points along the rail. Also, if you put 3 fcs plugs in, your customer could get a sweet keel fin that they make. Definatly looks like a fun board though. Keep building.
yeah, i think that i should probably avoid doing my lines my eye too, maybe get/make myself a rail marker. the maroon is actually just a brown that i made up, then added some red, but yeah, i like how it turned out too - gets pretty hot in the sun though! i was originally going to put the three plugs in for either the wood or red comp fcs keels, but they are hard to get hold of. so i went through shapers.com, and they sent me out a pair of keels with just the two tabs.
thanks for your help!
Just finished this fish last night. After a horrific failure at my first gloss coat on a prior board, I mustered the confidence to attempt a gloss coat on this puppy and am really happy with how it came out. It’s a 30th bday present for my friend on Oahu, and I’m flying 'er out on Friday. Big thanks to kensurf for all of his epic posts - that’s what really got me psyched to try this gloss coat again.
5’10’’ x 20.5’’ x 2 1/4’’ Champagne pigment on bottom (6oz glass), fabric inlay, yellow/green tint on deck (6oz glass), clear lam (4oz glass), blue/green pin line, hot coat, gloss coat, polish.
Love those colors! Nice work. Makes me want to try a fabric inlay.
Howzit wbrame,Fabric inlays are quite easy actually. Aloha ,Kokua
Wait… where’s the usual thread with the howevermanymillion pages?
Love the vector net… blends nicely with the black in your blue
Eps Epoxy. Im really into the distressed effect right now , especially with hiding/exposing carbon. Still working on vaccing pigments, muds the epoxy sometimes.
