Show us your....STANDS!

Gents,

Can’t help to notice how under-emphasized shaping stands are considered as a tool. There’s nothing worse for the entry-level shaper to suffer thru than lightweight and wobbly stands.

So…SHOW US YOUR STANDS! And help the newbies.

See attached pic…mine are made from heavy duty X-mas tree bases filled with wire-reinforced poured concrete. The upper arms are fully/individually adjustable for height and leveling. Very functional. These are my third generation.

Will love long time…

XMAS tree stands! Man that is the best idea I have heard yet! thanks, can’t wait to see some others!

hi craftee,

  • how big is the width of your present horizontal extremities?

  • how deep from max height to bottom ?

Regards

I have limited space in my garage, and don’t want to have to store a pair of big heavy stands in between surfboard projects. I just use a couple of saw horses. It isn’t the ideal situation, but I’m just working on my first board. I’m learning as I go along. For the rails I put together a couple of simple holders that clamp onto my workbench. I used paper towels for padding.

Mine look like craftee’s except they are screwed into the + or the X frames for legs
