side bites

Well, back at it after the holidays, I got a 6’4" double-ender on the shaping stands, (nose 17" 20 1/2" 15 3/4" tail) if confiqured 2 + 1 with a standard box say 5 " up from the tail where should the side bites be located (back of fin measurement from tail and rail? What about the toe in? Hope everybody had a happy holiday…Underground

Side bites just slow the board down, and on a board that size hold on the face of a large wave isn’t an issue. Just one kooks opinion.

Say anywhere from 11-12" from tail, 1-1 1/4" from rail, toe in about 1/8", tilt 4 deg.

Mahalos Foamdust, Iam shaping the board for my 12 year old son.Trying to give him a stable platform during his transition from bodyboard to stand up. I recently built a 9’2" and “copied” a local windward side shaper’s specs: positioned the box 5 1/4" and the side bites 15". I am gonna try the box at 6" up and the side bites at 14". Thanks Tuna, (there are no kooks here at swaylocks). If I was making the board for a more advanced rider I would have certainly preferred a single fin set up, than I would have also pulled the width out to about 21 + "
