Anybody ever try this? For reusable vacuum bagging? http://www.rubbercal.com/Silicone_TR.html
I’m assuming you found this all own your own??
Breast implants ?
Of course I did 20 years ago.
Good to see you haven’t lost your sense of humor.
That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the title. I hate those damn things, and I love funbags.
Fake boobs are disgusting.
gotta handle bags with kid gloves. I m still using the same bag since last November. just finished this one with said bag.
Not humor fact.
How many cycles can you get out of a silicone bag? With silicone molds, after about 15 uses, they don’t release anymore. Do you use a release agent? How does that affect the bonding of the next layer? Do you make your own silicone bag or make it from sheeting?
sorry, I still use the green poly bags.
Lakewakes, with the stretchlon bags, are you using a release sheet, or just epoxy against stretchlon?
--------How to make a re-usable vacuum bag that will last for years---------
go out and buy 20mil vinyl. Use HH-66 vinyl cement and make the bag with one end open. Buy a resuable bag closer, or make one, the half PVC pipe and rubber insert kind.
Buy a bag entry or make one, may i suggest a flat entry type.
Boom. Reusable bag that will last years. Epoxy wont stick to the vinyl, and theres little chance of that happening because you will have peel ply. No PVA or tooling release agents required.
Ran the numbers, would cost about 80$-130$ to make a bag this size if you bought everything.
Heres where you buy vinyl:

note this is just one way to make a bag not the only way. You might wanna adapt this a little for surfboards or fins. My first time around i made a small bag this exact same way for fins, i didnt like how the seems came out
Hope this sorts this out
Angus-
everysurfer,
not using the stretch, just the poly tube. I can get 20 pulls or so from one bag if you be careful
Stick with the green poly bags. I bought a nice set-up from veneersupplies.com a couple years ago. It worked great at first, then after about 10 boards, it started sticking to the epoxy. I still use the bag because I paid a f’n fortune for the thing, but now I have to wrap the boards in painter’s plastic before they go in the bag so it doesn’t stick. I recommended the bag to a factory that does way more volume than me, and they had the same issue… On top of that, the high end bags are thicker and harder to wrap around the rails when they are first under vac, so you end up with seams. I think they are perfect for veneers or compsands, but I’m vac’ing cloth on my boards and its not the best option. I’m changing my set-up to run 3 of the green poly bags or stretchlon bags at the same time to remedy my seam issue.
Yup, that’s why I’m switching back to the green Poly tubes. Nice work Lakewakes. I helpful hint I learned was to put my flow material on the opposite side of what I’m vac’ing… That way I end up with a smooth lamination and don’t have to sand/fill all that textured surface that the flow media leaves behind. I’m using the AirTech resin flow plastic stuff, it was leaving a diamond grid on my boards which gave it this badass snake skin look.
Verrrry nice lakewakes.
Very, very nice.
Guys, we’re getting off-subject… I believe we were discussing boobs?.. Real or Fake, I never met a set I didn’t like!
Sorry to veer off subject again…that board is looking fine Lakewakes! How would you start figuring twin fin placement on a wakesurf 5’-3" long?
j randy,
place box 11 to 11.5 from end of tail with no more than 1/4 toe in.
