Are they easy to adjust ‘on the fly’? Does the knob click when turning or is smooth and easy to turn/adjust?
I assume these things to be the case, but wanted to check before I go and buy one.

the clark modifications aren’t bad, but the hitachi p20sb planer isn’t the greatest in the grand scheme of things. i think clark could’ve found a better base to make a good shaping planer off of. personally, i prefer the Dewalt planers. you can pick up the newest model for about $150, which i think is a little expensive. there were a bunch on eBay awhile back that were selling for about $90. easy adjustment on the fly, and after a year there has been no need to sharpen/replace the blades. it’s a solid planer, and definitely worth a look.
Joshmosh,
Yes,it is easy to alter the depth “on the fly.” Mine does not click, either.
Sometimes too easy to adjust as you work. Oops!
If you’re looking for an alternative Bosch make a cordless planer. No more stepping on cords.
how does the bosch compare to the dewalt in terms of cut depth and adjusting on the fly?
