I’m building a board for my buddy
It’s a Lopez style single fin (or my best approximation of one). I need a fin for it.
Outline dims are: 7’2" x 13 1/4" N x 21 3/4" x 14 3/16" T …
He is 5’6" x about 175 and will be surfing all over the rock. Mostly out of the way north shore spots up to about 6’ Hawaiian.
I’ve only ever surfed a single a handful of times in my life so I really don’t know what to get.
Would this fin work?
I realize there is a lot more info I could give you guys like pictures of tail rocker, outline, etc.
I’ll try to get those and post them up when I get a chance.
I’m just trying to give him a starting point as I’m sure he’ll experiment with other fins.

Chrisp, Check out the fins Mr. Thrailkill puts on his boards. Not too dissimilar from what you've got.
In the '70s, stiffer was better=fuller base.
Chris, 7 1/2" of this fin. I call it wide base retro, cross of a Brewer and Parish from the late 70’s early 80’s. Mahalo, Larry

Hey Chrisp, not that I’m an expert, but I just finished building a 6’5" single and used a 7" fin with a similar outline to the one you’ve posted, although it’s a bit more rounded. It exceeded expectations and I’m pretty sure contributes heavily to the board’s enhanced manouvreability, compared to a 70s era single that I’ve surfed on and off over the past decade. It’s got more rake and a shorter base than the original. Here’s a couple of shots for comparison.

Thanks for the input fellas…
I went ahead and bought the fin. The price was right.
I’ll let him know that he might want to try a smaller fin next.
