Single Fin Joy Is Life

A license> Heck I got a drivers license and have to pay money for it every year ! And a dog licence that I have to pay for and my dog doesn't even drive. A scuba license that I paid for! A contractors lisence which is big bucks! Then there is the license when I married my wife and god has that cost a lot which I will be paying on forever. Seems like a license is something that you have to pay for and you don't really get anything in return !!

Hey lowerscat, Enjoy surfing, and enjoy making boards.  Don’t do it to make money, or to be a guru, or messiah.  If your designs are that great expect to get ripped off, and hopefully you get some credit for your ideas.  Surfing is bigger than one fin, but sometimes one fin is just enough.

Howzit grat and Bill, I think you both said it just great and agree with you 100%. Aloha,Kokua

Not true.    Lots of guys do that.     I asked what is unique about your design, that you propose to license.    You chose not to answer a very reasonable question.    I conclude that you are NOT serious.      What you so modestly call a Polfer Tail, was done by several people in the mid 60's.    Nothing unique there.    That you were granted a patent, is proof that patent clerks are as ill informed about surfboard design history as you are.

Geez guys you are harsh…The guy is innovative and can shape plus he rips. Its asking a lot to expect him to have a degree in surfboard history too.  Yes he is a little naeive and his posting style needs a bit of work. But ultimately he has made a valuable contribution to shaping irrespective of how he got there. Those of us here are a little bit jaded of claims of new designs and their pimps and Bill T can pretty much say, correctly, that someone in the 60’s or 70’s came up with a design first.

But this lad seems to have made a pretty big commitment to something he believes in and kept at it, refining it and developing it so cut him some slack.

Burnsie,

While you may sincerely believe that to be true, I sincerely believe that it is not.     When I was 5 years old, in the first grade, I ''invented'' the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.    I was shattered to discover several other kids eating examples of MY sandwich at lunch!   While PB&J was new to me, it was not new to the world.     You have the same situation here.

Yes Bill, I agree, but I think the guy deserves props for committing to and refining an alternative design in the face of the generic designs of the past 10 years. It seems to me like he is the kind of guy Sways is about and I would hate for him to think we are just a bunch of Victor Meldrews.

Hey Burnsie good to see a few new reviews on your blog, always informative.  I keep hoping the o.p. will give us a bit of explanation of his design / theory.

on the floor Bill…on the floor!!!

holy sht…I gotta catch my breath…

there are some gems from u on this one, but this…this is golden.

p.s…to Polfer/Lowerscat - you need help in your communication and writing in a big way, I commend you for putting yourself out there like this for criticism…and so it comes…I can’t shape a roll of toilet paper, so I’m still staring at your tail-lights either way…but I might suggest not referring to a Sways elder/master shaper with your own created euphamisim for his actual name as a start…you are welcome to roll your eyes on that one, but just a thought.
